Committee Orientation

  • St. Paul's Ocean Grove Church - Fellowship Hall 80 Embury Avenue Ocean Grove, NJ 07756 USA (map)

I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to you as we embark on our journey in to 2024 as a leader and committee member at St. Paul's Ocean Grove Church. Your dedication and commitment to serving our community is greatly appreciated, and I am confident that your contributions will be invaluable in our shared mission.

Our upcoming orientation is designed to fully immerse you in the heart and soul of our church, equipping you with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in your new role. Here's a glimpse of what we have in store:

1. **Our Mission**: At the core of our church is the mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. This journey begins with loving God and all people, and extends to equipping and empowering Christian leaders like yourself. We will delve into how this mission shapes every aspect of our church's activities and goals.

2. **Organizational Structure**: Understanding the framework of our church is important. We will walk you through St. Paul's Ocean Grove Church's structure. This will help us see how each component works together as we live out our mission statement and connect with one another in our mission and gifts.

3. **Connecting our Membership Vows**: Our commitment to God and our community is reflected in these vows. We will briefly explore their significance and how they guide our actions and decisions by fostering a deeper sense of belonging, responsibility and love through our daily spiritual practices.

4. **Living Out Our Vows**: We will discuss the practical ways we live out these vows through the Wesleyan Means of Grace and daily practice of the Ordinances of God. Our commitment to these practices are essential to our collective spiritual growth.

5. **Committee Collaboration**: Finally, a crucial part of this orientation will be to meet or reconnect with other committee members. This is a time to discuss the purpose and tasks of your committee, aligning them with the church's mission. You will also have the opportunity to schedule your meetings for the year.

This orientation is more than just an introduction; it's a celebration of your willingness to lead and serve. We are excited to journey together as a church committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ as we grow in our roles, contributing to the transformative work of our church.

Should you have any questions before the orientation, please feel free to reach out. We are here to support you every step of the way.
